Dynamic Semantics of Cognitive Agent Language

چکیده

In this paper, I will propose a language of cognitive agents and its formal semantics by exploiting the idea of dynamic semantics. The language is an extension of FirstOrder Concurrent Dynamic Logic (CDL). In this semantics, the expressions of the language is interpreted as actions or state transitions of the Private Viewpoint Models (PVM), which are models of environments recognized by a cognitive agent, are based on a Ecological Realism, and are modeled by a metaphor of cameras and camera works. The invariance of truth of a motion independent of viewpoints, actions on viewpoint resettings and empathizing to the other agents can also be treated in this language and semantics, which give us a formal basis of communications between cognitive agents on recognized contents and how to recognize them. Keywords— concurrent dynamic logic, cognitive agent, agent language, dynamic semantics, focus trace

Dynamic Categorization of Semantics of Fashion Language: A Memetic Approach

Categories are not invariant. This paper attempts to explore the dynamic nature of semantic category, in particular, that of fashion language, based on the cognitive theory of Dawkins’ memetics, a new theory of cultural evolution. Semantic attributes of linguistic memes decrease or proliferate in replication and spreading, which involves a dynamic development of semantic category. More specific...

Meaningfulness of Religious Language in the Light of Conceptual Metaphorical Use of Image Schema: A Cognitive Semantic Approach

According to modern religious studies, religions are rooted in certain metaphorical representations, so they are metaphorical in nature. This article aims to show, first, how conceptual metaphors employ image schemas to make our language meaningful, and then to assert that image-schematic structure of religious expressions, by which religious metaphors conceptualize abstract meanings, is the ba...

What’s behind meaning?

The paper addresses the main questions to be dealt with by any semantic theory which is committed to provide an explanation of how meaning is possible. On one side the paper argues that the resources provided by the development of mathematical logic, theoretical computer science, cognitive psychology, and general linguistics in the 20th Century, however indispensable to investigate the structur...

Order effects in dynamic semantics

In their target article, Wang and Busemeyer (2013) discuss question order effects in terms of incompatible projectors on a Hilbert space. In a similar vein, Blutner recently presented an orthoalgebraic query language essentially relying on dynamic update semantics. Here, I shall comment on some interesting analogies between the different variants of dynamic semantics and generalized quantum the...

The Most Prominent Theta Roles in the Sindhi Language: The Hierarchy

Abstract This paper focuses on the most prominent theta roles used in the Sindhi language. The study attempts to answer to the research question, ‘How are theta roles prominently used in the Sindhi language?’ The data come from the young native Sindhi speakers. Each verb phrase in the data is examined with the help of Carnie’s (2007) ‘Theta Roles and Thematic Relations’ in order to find the pro...
